As caregivers, I cannot stress enough how important selfcare is. I am with all of my kids 24/7, so I work hard on my fitness in every sense. It’s funny that when I’d talk to people about my international trip with 3 kids 5 and under at 4-5 months pregnant, some didn’t like my lack of panic when I’d say, “I’m prepared for whatever comes.”
That’s not because I was naive to the fact that I could potentially have all 3 kids crying at the same time, catch in my hands or become flight famous with everyone staring as I sat with screaming children on top of me at baggage claim after a horrific 3 hours (all of which happened). Shortly after this photo, I cried in the parking lot with my girlfriend who is my safe space, because I have no ego about being “weak” and that’s what makes a person strong. But fitness is about recovery and by morning it all felt worth it because
We were on day 1 of an epic trip
Perspective is a gift. Hindsight allowed me to see that 2-3 hours of our 20+ hours was hard but that’s less than 10%… which is a mistake a lot of people make, don’t let hiccups negate an entire .
No one is exempt from the stress of motherhood and even stress is relative – this fivesome always has enough to eat, no serious health conditions, and we are loved by a good man. I know that I cannot control much when it comes to the outside but I’m a black belt at controlling myself, which is why I’m good at helping others learn to do the same. What can you do when life feels overwhelming, as your lap child throws a tantrum (on your PREGNANT lap) with food on all 3 tray tables? You envision hitting the eject button and it makes you laugh… you laugh. Or you cry. Or you just surrender and say, “Help me.” The sooner you realize that the only thing you can control is your reaction, the happier you will be and more confident in the fact that you can deal with anything. I’m not one to tempt life but I know that I’m gonna be okay because I stay emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually fit. How do you get there? A million small steps that seem insignificant, that’s how. I’ve been doing this self-study for years and now I love supporting others via my courses, group coaching, and one-on-one coaching.
